
Port Blair, May 27: State Child Protection Society (SCPS) under the Directorate of Social welfare, in partnership with Pankh NGO, has successfully organized a two-day Vacation Recreation Fitness Workshop at Driftwood Hotel on May 25 and 27, 2024. The event brought together approximately 50 children from different Child Care Institutions (CCIs) under the care of SCPS to focus on physical fitness, mental wellness, and emotional support.
The first day of the workshop commenced with a warm welcome speech by Mrs. Rehaneth Begum, Program Manager, SCPS, setting the tone for the engaging and enriching activities that awaited the children. Notable figures in the wellness industry, including Mr. Shiv Prasad, CEO of Art of Living; Mr. Ravinder Rao, a dedicated teacher from the same organization; Mrs. Puja Biswas, an expert in Zumba; and Ms. Nidhi Rao, a specialist in yoga and meditation, led the workshop sessions.
Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director (Social Welfare), emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for children to engage in recreational activities that promote both physical fitness and educational development. He highlighted the various programs and workshops aimed at nurturing the minds of children under the care of CCIs.
The program started with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the esteemed guests, symbolizing the enlightenment and positivity that the workshop aimed to impart to the children. Mr. Shiv Prasad, CEO of Art of Living foundation from Bangalore engaged the children in an innovative problem-solving activity, encouraging them to navigate life’s challenges by focusing on solutions rather than problems. Through this exercise, the children learned valuable lessons in resilience and proactive problem-solving.

She infused the workshop with energy and enthusiasm through vibrant Zumba sessions, showcasing the physical and emotional benefits of the dance fitness regimen. The children actively participated in the lively sessions, experiencing the joy of movement and rhythm while understanding the importance of exercise for their overall well-being.
The event concluded with a heartfelt closing speech by Mrs. Komal Anand, President of Pankh Andaman NGO, expressing gratitude to the Directorate of Social Welfare, esteemed dignitaries, and participants for their support and involvement in making the workshop a resounding success.
