Mayabunder, May 26 : Recently, a delegation led by Abdul Siddique, Ex-Pramukh of Mayabunder, met with Mr. Dilkush Meena (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman, to address several pressing issues impacting the residents of Mayabunder. The discussion focused on five critical areas:
Healthcare Facilities at Dr. R.P. District Hospital Mayabunder: The delegation emphasized the urgent need for the posting of a Gynaecologist, General Surgeon, and an Anaesthetist at the hospital. Currently, patients are often referred to Port Blair for treatment, incurring prohibitive expenses for medical care and accommodation.
Mortuary Van Service: The need for a functional mortuary van to transport deceased individuals was highlighted. At present, families bear significant costs hiring private vehicles for this purpose.
Development of Playground at Pokadera: The delegation discussed the development of a playground on the allotted land at Pokadera to promote recreational activities for the community.
Improvement of Mobile Network and Internet Service: Enhanced mobile network and internet service within Dr. R.P. Hospital Mayabunder were identified as urgent needs. Inpatients without attendants or family members face significant communication challenges. This issue is particularly pressing for government officials working away from their families.
Boat Service from Mayabunder to Port Blair: The reinstatement of the boat service departing Mayabunder for Port Blair at 9:00 PM was proposed to provide more convenient travel options for residents.
Mr. Dilkush Meena reportedly listened attentively to the concerns and assured the delegation that effective solutions would be sought. On behalf of the people of Mayabunder, Abdul Siddique expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Dilkush Meena for his attention and commitment to addressing these concerns.
