Port Blair, Feb 20: Four years old, Bibek Talukdar, suffering from Cyanotic Heart Disease (hole in the heart) has undergone successful heart operation today at Mission Hospital of Durgapur,West Bengal.
Though Bibek Talukdar is still under observation, according to doctors, his operation is successful.
The entire cost of flight tickets (for three) and treatment, which includes the costly operation, has been borne by District Governor of Rotary Club, Kolkata,West Bengal, Mr. Uttam Ganguly in association with the Rotary Club of Port Blair.
Rtn. Girish Arora, President Rotary Club of Port Blair, Rtn. Srawan Agarwala, Secretary Rotary Club of Port Blair, Rtn. Amit Goenka, Rtn. Dr. Dinesh, Rtn. Kaushik Banerjee and Rtn. Anil Goel played a major role in arranging funds for entire treatment, which also includes costly tests like Angiogram, MRI, CT Scan etc.
During the last visit of the District Governor of Rotary Club, Kolkata,West Bengal, all members of Rotary Club of Port Blair took up the issue with him, an effort, which finally yielded fruits today.
Due to the heart ailment Master Bibek is unable to utter even a single word and his legs are so week that he can’t even stand straight on his legs.
Other than Rotary Club of Port Blair, the Yuva Sangh, a youth Association of Wimberlygunj had also donated a sum of Rs. 21,000 for the treatment of four years old.
Many other prominent and faceless Islanders had also donated some amount for the treatment of the little boy. Humane Touch, a well known NGO of theseIslands, had also played a leading role in this case.
