Port Blair, May 06: In a significant breakthrough the Police Station Cyber Crime has successfully apprehended a person named Vijay Victor, aged about 30 years for circulating intimate video of a victim girl over WhatsApp.
A formal complaint was lodged by the victim in which she stated that, earlier she was in a relationship with the offender for more than four years and at that time, the offender had recorded their intimate moments in his mobile phone. Later, when the relationship turned sour, then in order to teach the victim a lesson the offender circulated their intimate video over WhatsApp.
The investigation officer Inspector Ranga Raj, SHO, Cyber Crime Police Station, Port Blair, put the offender under sustained interrogation, during which the offender accepted his guilt and the video which was circulated over WhatsApp was also recovered from the mobile phone of offender. Later the offender Vijay Victor was arrested and sent to judicial custody where he will face charges under Information Technology Act and other applicable laws. The section in this FIR are: 66(E) (Punishment for publishing or transmitting the image of a private area of a person, without his or her consent)/67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form)/67(A) (publishing or transmitting of material containing sexually explicit act, in electronic form) of IT Act, 2000, r.w.s 323 IPC(voluntarily causing hurt)/292 IPC (Circulation of obscene video)/427 IPC (for committing mischief and thereby causes loss or damage to the property)/ 506 IPC (For criminal intimidation).
The entire investigation was carried out under the supervision of Sh. Lakshay Pandey, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Cyber Crime) and overall supervision of Sh. Rajeev Ranian, IPS, Superintendent of Police (CID /Vigilance/Security). The A&N Police is committed to ensure the safety and honour of the women within these Islands.
