Port Blair, Apr 16: On 15/04/2024, PS Rangat received information regarding a heinous crime in Urmilapur, Rangat. Acting swiftly, SHO PS Rangat, alongwith police party, immediately responded to the scene and discovered the lifeless body of a woman, tragically beheaded.
Without delay, the police initiated a thorough investigation; meticulously recorded statements of concerned witnesses, collected evidence from the spot with the help of experts from the Forensic team. Through diligent inquiry, it was revealed that the culprit behind this gruesome act was done by Thakur Sikder, driven by suspicions of a family dispute.
Following the commission of the crime, Thakur Sikder fled into the nearby dense jungle to evade himself from apprehension. Displaying remarkable swiftness and determination, the police team launched an extensive search operation in the jungle. Despite the challenging terrain, their efforts culminated in the successful apprehension of the accused within hours of crime. Subsequently, the accused namely Thakur Sikder S/o Late Kalipado Sikder (53) yrs, Private Worker R/o Urmilapur, Bakultala was arrested and a case has been registered under the relevant sections of IPC.
