Port Blair, Apr 15: A shocking incident rocked Urmilapur Village, Rangat Tehsil, today, as a woman was brutally murdered in broad daylight. The victim, identified as Mrs. Chaina Das, aged 29, fell victim to the heinous crime between 8:30 and 9:30 am.
Initial investigations point to the victim’s father-in-law, Mr. Thakur Sikdar, as the alleged perpetrator. Mr. Sikdar, after committing the gruesome act, fled the scene, leaving authorities scrambling to apprehend him.
Sources reveal that Sikdar attacked Mrs. Das with a sharp weapon, targeting her neck. Following the murder, he reportedly sought refuge in another house within the village, issuing threats to its occupants before disappearing into the nearby dense forest.
As per detail, law enforcement agencies swiftly launched a massive manhunt to capture the fugitive. However, as of now, Mr. Sikdar remains at large, with his motives for the murder still unclear.
