Port Blair, Apr 06: As part of the upcoming General Elections-2024, the training for Presiding Officers, Polling Officers and Micro Observers for Postal Ballot was held in the conference hall of DBRAIT here today.
Addressing the election officials engaged for Postal Ballot, the Returning Officer, ANIPC, Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, apprised the participants about the importance of Postal Ballot. He said that RO’s Office is having the list of the Absentee Voters in Senior Citizen (85+years), PwDs and Covid affected/suspect categories through the Postal Ballot. He said, the team of Presiding Officers, Polling Officers, Micro Observers and Police personnel has to execute the voting by the Absentee Vote through Postal Ballot completing all the procedures. He urged the officials engaged for the Postal Ballot to be extra cautious while discharging their duties during voting by the Absentee Voters through the Postal Ballot.
The Nodal Officer (Postal Ballot), Mr. Azharuddin Zahiruddin Quazi, IAS, informed the participants about the step by step procedures to be followed in facilitation of voting by Absentee Voters in Senior Citizen (85+years), physically disabled and Covid affected/suspect categories through postal ballot.
