Port Blair, Feb 07: PBMC urges Port Blair Citizen’s to conserve water, as the summer season approaches with increasing demand and fixed supply of water, conservation is crucial to the sustainable growth and development of the city. With an average high temperature around 28ºC and humidity over 80% in the summer months, water usage tends to increase significantly during this time of year in Port Blair. PBMC requests all citizen’s and commercial establishments to be mindful of their water usage over the coming months and take measures to reduce waste. Simple steps like turning off the tap when not in use, limiting shower times and avoiding pre-rinsing dishes can make a big difference in conserving our limited fresh water resources.
All citizens and visitors of Port Blair are urged to do their part to save water. Let’s work together in conserving the precious resources by adopting the do’s and don’ts give.
Do’s
1. When it rains collect rainwater and use it for watering your garden lawn and washing your vehicle.
2. Limit shower times.
3. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth, shaving, and face washing.
4. Check your toilets and wash basins for leakages.
5. Do install water saving toilets and shower heads.
6. Do use a self-closing nozzle on your hose.
7. Use the washing machine when there is a full load.
Don’ts
1. Don’t run the water while shaving and washing your hands or brushing your teeth.
2. Don’t flush your toilet unnecessarily.
3. Don’t water your side walk or drive way, sweep them clean using brooms.
4. Don’t let the water run while dishes.
