Port Blair, Feb 07: A pivotal meeting of Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) was convened under the chairmanship of Shri Ankit Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of N&M Andaman today, marking a significant stride towards bolstering the fisheries sector. The session focused primarily on the selection of 83 beneficiaries for various subsidy programs, including construction of fish ponds, freshwater finfish hatcheries, new grow-out ponds, Ice plant and cold storage, two-wheelers with icebox, three wheelers with ice box, refrigerated vehicles and insulated vehicles.
From this insightful meeting, the committee has recommended 14 beneficiaries for subsidies across various components of the PMMSY. This underscores the government’s commitment to supporting and empowering individuals within the fisheries domain. These subsidies aim to foster growth, encourage sustainability, and enhance the productivity of the chosen beneficiaries.
Moreover, to fortify the functioning and outreach of the PMMSY, the extension of 21 Sagar Mitra was announced. The induction of Sagar Mitra is poised to bring substantial expertise, guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation and execution of the Yojana’s objectives.
This proactive meeting is a testament to the government’s unwavering dedication to fortify the fisheries sector, uplifting numerous lives, and reinforcing the nation’s journey towards a thriving and sustainable fisheries ecosystem under the PMMSY.
