Port Blair, Feb 06: Akashvani has always been a Pioneer in development communication especially in the field of agriculture and was a torch bearer in the Green revolution in the country. Launched in the year 2004, ‘Kisanvani’ is a half an hour radio programme through 97 Stations of Akashvani across India. The programme sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, is aimed to educate the farming community of the new innovations, knowledge, skill development and scientific techniques in the field of Agriculture and allied sectors.
As in the previous years, this year the Farm and Home unit of the Directorate General of AIR in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. Of India is organizing a three day workshop on “Impact Assessment And Capacity Building” for Kisanvani and DD Kisan/Krishi Darshan Programme Producers representing the South Eastern States of Tamil Nadu, Andrapradesh, Telangana, Odissa, Chattisgarh and Union Territories of Andaman & Nicobar Islands and Puducherry. There shall be around 40 participants attending the workshop.
Besides senior officials of the Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. Of India, senior officials of Prasar Bharati Secretariat, Akashvani & Doordarshan Directorate, and the workshop will be attended by Senior Agriculture Scientists, Agriculture/Administration departmental officials, Agri -Entrepreneurs/Agri – Startup representatives, Progressive farmers from different parts of Island.

Mr. Satyendra Singh Dursawat, Secretary (Agriculture) A&N Administration will be the Chief Guest at the inaugural function. Dr. Y. R. Meena , Additional Commissioner, Extn. MOAFW and Mr. Dr. Sanjiv Kumar Ingle, Joint Director (Mass Media), MOAFW, GOI will also grace the function.
The workshop will be conducted by Akashvani, Port Blair, from 7th February to 9th February, 2024 at Central Island Agricultural Research Institute, Port Blair.
