Port Blair, Feb 05: An unfortunate incident occurred in which a person namely A. Mani aged about 49 yrs R/o Shoal Bay No.08 was attacked and killed by a Salt Water Crocodile while he was engaged in fishing at Jirkatang No.3 nallah on 29.04.2023.
In order to assist the family in distress and to bring them out from shock and trauma of losing the means of livelihood, the Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman has sanctioned an ex-gratia amount of Rs 1,50,000/- (Rupees One Lakh Fifty Thousand Only) jointly to the family members of deceased A. Mani as financial relief to start their economic activities again. The amount has been sanctioned as per the scheme called the “A & N Islands Scheme for Providing Financial Assistance to Victims of Accidents (who are not covered under the prevailing NDRF/SDRF Norms approved by the GOI)”.
