Billyground, Feb 06: General Public of Billiground area is facing a lot of difficulties because they are not provided with new electric connections from a long period of time even after they have completed all the formalities and have made payments of meter fees on direction of JE, Nimbutala.
People who have built new houses are waiting eagerly to get electric connections to shift to their new houses but they are made to wait longer and longer, even after depositing the meter fess the consumers are waiting for months to light up their homes.
In this regard President, Harinagar Mandal Committee of BJP, Mr. Dilip Kumar had personally met the Executive Engineer, Electricity Department of the area to clarify the facts and he was informed that due to shortage of consumables and materials that are required for connection the connections are not been provided yet. Whereas Mr. Dilip alleged that the consumers have met the JE and AE of the area a number of times to get to know the status of the connections but they were never informed about the real reasons of the delayed connections, he further added that according to the consumer laws if the demanded fees is paid then the connections have to be provided within forty five days of paying the fees but months have passed and there are no signs of lights lighting in their houses.
This incident shows how serious the electricity department is in providing services to its consumers and also it raises a question that if the department did not have sufficient consumables and materials to provide connections then why did the JE , Nimbutalla direct the consumers to pay their meter fees.
Electricity is a basic need for every household today and how long will the consumers of the Billiground area wait to get their houses lighted up. The department should procure the essentials as soon as possible and provide connections to the needy soon because delay in electric connections means to delay their development.
