Port Blair, Feb 01: The South Andaman District Police has succeeded in solving a blind burglary case within 24 hours showing professionalism resulting in the arrest and apprehension of the accused person involved in the crime.
On 29/01/2024, a burglary case was reported at PS Aberdeen regarding the burglary of gold ornaments worth around Rs. 15 lakhs and cash Rs. 48,000 from the residence of the complainant at School Line, Port Blair. On 26/01/2024, the complainant and his family members went to his brother’s house as his brother went to Chennai for treatment. On 29/01/2024, he was informed by the landlord that the lock of the door was broken. Immediately he reached his home and found that gold ornaments and cash were stolen by an unknown person from the Almirah.
On the basis of above complaint, an FIR vide No. 25/2024 dated 29/01/2024, U/s 457/380 IPC was registered at Police Station Aberdeen against unknown accused and investigation was entrusted to SI Abhishek Haldar.
The Aberdeen Police, swiftly responding to the complaint, formed a dedicated team comprising SI Jeevan, SI Abhishek Haldar (IO), HC/Vinod Kumar, PCs Surender Singh Yadav, K. Jairaj, Vijay Singh, Naw Eileen of PS Aberdeen and PC S. Neel Kanteshwar Rao of Cyber Cell under the guidance of Insp. Girish Kumar, SHO PS Aberdeen. Through meticulous analysis of approximately 15 kilometers of CCTV footage, the team identified the accused and apprehended the culprits, leading to the recovery of stolen gold ornaments worth around Rs 15 Lakhs and cash Rs. 30,360. The accused is well acquainted about the presence of CCTV cameras in the area and hence, he was covering his face before reaching under the CCTV range to mislead the accused investigating agency.
They also used various routes in dark/isolated areas to reach at the complainant’s house and after committing the offense he used different routes to reach back to his home. The breakthrough of the case was the result of meticulous investigative work, leveraging CCTV analysis, intelligence gathering, hardworking, and exemplary teamwork.
The entire operation took place under the close supervision of Mr. Vikas, IPS, Sub Divisional Police Officer, South Andaman and the overall supervision of Sh. Kalaivanan R, IPS, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District.
