Swaraj Dweep, Jan 17: Visitors to Radhanagar Beach were met with an unexpected sight yesterday evening, as a crocodile was spotted in the waters between 4:40 PM and 5:00 PM yesterday. Forest officials confirmed the sighting, assuring that the crocodile was observed at the far end of the beach and not in the main swimming area.
Taking immediate action, authorities have set up a protective cage in the vicinity and are closely monitoring the area with the hope of capturing the crocodile safely. A joint patrolling team, equipped with necessary measures, including speed boats, has been deployed to ensure the safety of beachgoers and tourists.
A senior forest officer at Swaraj Dweep emphasized that swimming at Radhanagar Beach is currently restricted as a precautionary measure. The public is advised to exercise caution, and swimming is not allowed until further notice. The monitoring team is diligently working to assess the situation, and once it is confirmed that the crocodile is no longer in the area, swimming activities are expected to resume within the next 1-2 days.
