Port Blair, Dec 10: The Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) campaign, in its second day, made significant strides within urban areas, specifically in Ward No. 3 and Ward No. 4. The day marked a momentous occasion as the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, virtually addressed the enthusiastic participants of ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ via live streaming today. Mr. Narendra Modi stated that the Government is dedicated to reaching every underserved family, ensuring they benefit from the schemes. His vision captured the aspiration for a developed India, emphasising the importance of maximising the impact of these schemes for the marginalised sections of society. PM engaged directly with beneficiaries from selected areas, highlighting the real impact of these schemes on individual’s lives.
The event at Ward No. 3 was graced by Smt. Veditha Reddy, IAS, Secretary, Rural Development/Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, as the chief guest and Smt. S. Selvi, Chairperson, PBMC and Mr. Dilkhush Meena, IAS, Secretary, PBMC as the guests of honour. The Chairperson, PBMC, Mr. Abhishek Bhukal, Joint Secretary, PBMC, Mr. Ramzan Ali, Councilor of Ward No. 3 and the residents, extended a warm welcome to the IEC Van of Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra by organising various programs in support of the campaign.
During the event, the Ward Councillor fervently urged the attendees to actively propagate information regarding the multitude of GoI schemes operational in the Islands, aiming to ensure comprehensive coverage for all eligible individuals. The Chairperson, PBMC, administered the Sankalp pledge to the gathering, emphasising collective participation towards a developed India. Inspirational stories from beneficiaries, shared under ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubani,’ motivated people to avail these schemes. Representatives from various Departments disseminated detailed information about pivotal schemes such as PM Vishwakarma, Ujjwala Yojana, PM SVANidhi, PMAY etc. encouraging citizens to take advantage of these schemes.
The chief guest, Mrs. Veditha Reddy illustrated the commitment by distributing new LPG connections to 5 beneficiaries under the Ujjwala Yojana on the spot, providing them with all necessary accessories. She also visited the Departmental stalls, urging officials to actively engage the public and elaborate on the advantages of their respective schemes. Mr. Dilkhush Meena, proposed the vote of thanks to the gathering and acknowledged their participation and support.
The Port Blair Municipal Council arranged a proactive community outreach event under ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ at Ward No. 4, Marine Hill, aimed at familiarising residents with pivotal Government schemes. Collaborating with significant banking institutions alongside Departments like Civil Supplies, Industries and Health Services, the event focused on elucidating schemes like SVANidhi, PMAY and Ayushman Bharat. PBMC officials passionately advocated the gathering to avail the schemes emphasising their benefits and also provided guidance for accessibility. The event witnessed active community engagement, including health check-ups, Aadhaar seeding and updates facilitated by respective Department officials. The event highlighted products from local Self-Help Groups, focusing community entrepreneurship and economic upliftment. The Port Blair Municipal Council has extended heartfelt gratitude for the extensive participation of people for community development through such inclusive initiatives.
