Port Blair, Nov 03: Super Six PM SHRI Swadesh Nagar Cricket Tournament was organized on 02nd December 2023 in the school ground of Govt. Senior Secondary School C.F.O. Nallah for the schools under DDO Swadesh Nagar. A total of 08 teams participated in it (GSSS Swadesh Nagar, GSSS CFO Nallah, GSS Govindapur, GSS Pinakinagar, VKV Basantipur , GMS Billiground) for the students of Class VI to X.
Mr. Suresh Chandra Mazumder, DEO (Mayabunder)/ Principal (PM SHRI GSSS Swadesh Nagar) was the Chief Guest and Mr. Venketeswar Rao, Pradhan, Shivapuram Panchayat, Middle Andaman was the Guest of Honour along with ward member Mr. B.Ashok on this occasion.Before the start of the cricket competition, players from all the schools marched past and saluted the guests.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Suresh Chandra Mazumder motivated the students. About the importance and participation in sports activities. He asked the students to use this opportunity to showcase their athletic and sport abilities. He congratulated the whole team for the management, preparation and implementation of such type of tournament for school students.
Mr. Venkateswar Rao appreciated the DEO/ Principal for giving such opportunity and facilities to organize such type of tournaments. He also congratulated Govt. Senior Secondary School CFO Nallah for this wonderful arrangement and opportunities to introducing cricket in this locality. He also thanked the Teacher In-charge and the whole team for their effort and cooperation for organizing such a unique sports activity for the first time in this locality.
In the opening match between GSSS CFO Nallah and GMS Billiground, GMS Billiground set a target of 35 runs in 06 over which was easily chased by GSSS CFO Nallah by losing 01 wicket and wins the match by 05 wickets.
