Port Blair, Nov 14: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder has highlighted a pressing matter concerning the healthcare facilities in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, specifically in Ayush Hospital and GB Pant Hospital.
In a letter addressed to the Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Mr. Halder said that the patients in Ayush Hospital, particularly those in need of physiotherapy, are facing challenges as the essential physiotherapy supplies & equipment are not being provided to the patients in the Hospital.
He added that the patients in the orthopedic and surgical wards of GB Pant Hospital are also being advised to purchase the operational supplies & equipment from private medical shops. This practice places an undue financial burden on poor islanders who are unable to afford the necessary medical supplies & equipment for their treatment.
Mr. Halder stated that “government’s support in this matter is crucial to alleviate the financial strain on the vulnerable population and to guarantee that all citizens have access to the healthcare they need”.
He has further requested to take immediate steps for upholding the principles of inclusivity and equitable access to healthcare services at the Government Hospital of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
