Port Blair, Nov 08: Dr. T. S. Ashok Kumar, IFS, PCCF, Department of Environment & Forests, Andaman and Nicobar Islands visited at Dhanikhari Experimental Garden cum Arboretum of Botanical Survey of India and interacted with Regional Head and Scientists on various Conservation Programs going on in the garden. During his visit, he planted an endemic plant Pyrostria laljii of the coffee family (Rubiaceae), this represented the first record of the genus Pyrostria for India. Addl. Director & Regional Head, Dr. Lal Singh, welcomed and briefed about the role of Experimental Garden of BSI on the conservation of the floral diversity of these Islands in order to save the environment.
