Port Blair, Feb 08: Mrs. Krishna Veni, PST, Govt, Sr. Senior Secondary Girls School, Port Blair has won the 1st prize for her book “Andaman Ka Ross Island”. She has been awarded the prize under the Rahul Sanskritayan Tourism Prize Scheme 2011-2012 being conducted by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt of India. The Prize carries an award of Rs. 20,000/ which is a given for original book writing.
“Andaman Ka Ross Island” had earlier received appreciation from the members of the Press Club of India, in New Delhi where it was first released by the PCI Secretary General, Mr Pushpendrra. Kulshershtha in July 2010. The 130-page book gives a first person account of the history of the then headquarter of the British government in Andaman & Nicobar Islands in a narrative style. Priced at Rs. 100/ the book is available at Anthropological Museum in Port Blair. Mrs. Krishna Veni is the wife of Mr. R.P. Sharma, a senior journalist.
