Port Blair, Oct 06: In a remarkable operation conducted by the South Andaman District Police, the team from the Humfrygunj Police Station achieved one of the largest seizures to date, confiscating a staggering 177.19 kilograms of venison (deer meat). The successful mission was carried out under the leadership of SI G Mohan Rao, SHO of PS Humfrygunj, along with PCs M Sudarsana Rao, Netesh Baidya and Mani Kandan. The operation was supervised by Arshdeep Singh Panwar, DANIPS, SDPO Bamboo Flat.
Acting on credible intelligence received on 05/10/2023, a raiding team was swiftly assembled to conduct surveillance in the Wandoor area. During their operation, they identified a suspicious Omni vehicle with the registration number AN01 D 9932 crossing Memyo, Ranchi Basti. The team successfully tracked and intercepted the vehicle, subsequently discovering a total of 177.19 kilograms of venison upon inspection. The individuals inside the Omni were apprehended along with the vehicle, which contained 04 plastic bags filled with the illicit meat. The suspect was identified as P Sasi Kumar (46) yrs S/o Late S Pitchai, Pvt Worker R/o Garacharma near Murda Khadi. The seized venison, along with the Omni vehicle was promptly confiscated on the spot and the individual was detained. Simultaneously, the relevant information was relayed to the appropriate Forest officials. All the seized articles as well as the detained individuals were handed over to the concerned Forest officials for further necessary action within their jurisdiction.
