Port Blair, Jan 21: The LPG Booking counter has become a constant source of nightmare for public of South Andaman region. The CCS counter for LPG Gas booking at Delanipur, is the only counter for most of the region of South Andaman and hence everyday hundreds of people reach there to book Gas Cylinders, which result in total chaos. According to reports there are only two booths for LPG Gas Booking in the counter, one each for ladies and gents, which is obviously not sufficient for such a large number of customers. Hence one has to wait for hours in long queues, and wrestle with others to book a LPG cylinder.
Though public of South Andaman have been demanding for more counters for LPG Booking by CCS is paying no heed, hence general public has to suffer all the time.
When one of the representative of Andaman Sheekha contacted one of the Mangers of IOC over phone, for addition of more counters at CCS LPG Booking Centre the reply was strait. “We don’t have software with us for adding more counters and hence at present it is not possible.”
One wonders how difficult it is to bring software from mainland, even if it is compulsory for adding a counter. The IOC officials must visit the LPG Booking counter during rush hours to see how much general public have been suffering for booking each cylinders. Islanders now demands immediate intervention of Chief Secretary and Secretary of Civil Supply in this issue.
Booking of LPG over phone will be started from tomorrow (9th April) as per the order of the LG.
