Port Blair, Jan 16: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, PCC President attended the valedictory function of Sports events of Victory Youth Club (VYC), Lall Barack, Dairy farm on 14th January, 2013. The Chairman PBMC Mr. P B Murugan and Mr. John Robert Babu of Youth Congress also attended the function as Guest of Honors.
The sports event was started on 19th December, 2012 to promote various sports among the local youths. Mr. Sharma has distributed prizes to the winners of the various games.
In his speech Mr. Sharma has lauded the efforts of the club for popularizing various sports in the youths of rural areas which prepare youths with healthy mind and body.
“We have good players in rural areas that can perform well at District level to National level, if given chance and proper training with out any prejudice.” Mr. Sharma said. Mr. S Rama Rao the General Secretary has informed to the gathering that this sports event included with indoor and outdoor games like Badminton, Cricket, carrom, kabaddi etc played in between the players of various clubs.
The club has also arranged various competitions like Rangoli, musical chair etc for womenfolk while fancy dress competition, quiz competition for children were also arranged.
Mr. K Mohan Rao, the President of the club has informed that for last 10 years, the club is involved in arranging such sports event to promote various sports in the rural areas. The club has also arranged Marathon race on 23rd December, 2012 from Dairy farm junction to Ranchi Basti- Lambaline and back. Mr. G Laxman, Cultural Secretary has presented a series of performing arts by the members of the club before the audiences. Mr. Rama Rao proposed the vote of thanks.
