Port Blair, Sep 10: ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker has demanded for issuance of Islander Cards to general public of A&N Islands
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration Mr. Bhasker mentioned that many of the Islanders who are qualified to get a Islander Card are unable to procure a Islander Card due to the drive not taking place from a long time.
“Due to non-having of Islander Cards, many people are unable to get the concessional benefits including subsidized rate of tickets in the Shipping Sector”, said Mr. Bhasker
Hence, he requested the Chief Secretary to start the drive for issuance for Islanders Card for atleast 1 month so that the backlog can be cleared and genuine Islanders can get the Islanders Card.
Further, he also requested to conduct the drive in interior Islands such as Katchal, Kamorta, Teressa and Campbell Bay where even the Nicobarese tribe do not have a Islander Card.
