Port Blair, Sep 04: Ms. Roopa M.V Engineer/ Scientist, Deputy Project Director, ISRO-ISTRAC made her resounding presence and came all the way to these Islands for motivating the students and addressing on the Chandrayan-3 mission at DBRAIT. Joining the entire country, as part of celebration of success of Chandrayaan-3 mission, DBRAIT celebrated Chandrayaan Mahotsav today to facilitate interaction of students with the Chandrayaan-3 Scientist.
The scientist elaborated on the operational aspects, the technical aspects and the nitty-gritty’s of the grand landing aspects of India’s third Lunar Mission in her session. She was impressed upon the fact that the entire mission was a remarkable amalgamation of Science, engineering, design, control and navigation experts whose concerted efforts and convergence of expertise, could make the mission a success and created history.
The scientist gave a technical walkthrough on the how LVM3 M4 vehicle successfully launched Chandrayaan-3 into orbit which placed the integrated module in an Elliptic Parking Orbit (EPO) and guided the students on the power-landing phases of launching the lunar lander named Vikram and lunar rover named Pragyan. The session was followed by an interaction with students wherein the enthralled students had satisfied their quests on the mission.
Answering to one of the question of student on Chandrayaan-3, about the success of project on such a low cost budget as compared to its global counterparts, the Scientist/Engineer from ISRO/ISTRAC replied that ISRO believes and uses its own proven technologies developed indigenously rather than experimenting foreign technologies.
Other senior scientists from ISRO, Port Blair, namely Mr. B.C Tripathy, Mr. Kallu Khan and Mr. Debdas Paik, alumnus of DBRAIT also graced the occasion. She added that Port Blair being a critical site for monitoring and tracking these space missions, having Mr. Debdas Paik as one of the scientists/engineers in the core team of Chandrayaan-3 launch was indeed a pride for the Islands and the nation.
Around 800 students from various colleges and schools of ANI attended the session. Earlier Dr. Manu Vashishtha, Lecturer (Chemistry) and Ms. UshaTigga, Faculty (English) welcomed the gathering and Dr. Shrabani Mallick, Lecturer (CSE) proposed the vote of thanks.
