Port Blair, Aug 16: In a heartwarming display of compassion and community spirit, HumaneTouch, a prominent non-governmental organization (NGO), has undertaken its “Clothe Share” program in the village of Jirkatang on 13th August 2013. The initiative, which seeks to provide used clothing to those in need, has garnered widespread support and recognition for its efforts in fostering a sense of solidarity and shared responsibility.
The event, held at a local community center, was attended by residents from all walks of life. The gathering was addressed by Mr. N. Yassir, an executive member of HumaneTouch, who eloquently elaborated on the initiative’s aims and the organization’s broader commitment to social welfare.
Mr. Yassir began by expressing gratitude to the community for their participation and support in making the “Free Used Clothe Share” initiative a resounding success. He emphasized that this was not just about providing clothing but about spreading warmth, dignity, and hope to those who might be struggling to meet their basic needs.
“More than just clothing, this initiative is a testament to the power of empathy and collective action,” said Mr. Yassir. “It’s about recognizing that we all have a role to play in supporting each other, especially in times of need. The clothes we share today carry not only physical comfort but also a message that no one in our community should feel alone or deprived.”
HumaneTouch’s commitment to social welfare extends beyond clothing distribution. Mr. Yassir highlighted the organization’s various initiatives, including Blood Donation, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, Medical Aid and Scholarship program. He stressed the need for continued collaboration between the NGO and the community to drive positive change on multiple fronts.
The “Clothe Share” program has become a regular event in South Andaman, with each edition drawing increasing participation. Residents donate gently used clothing items, which are then sorted, cleaned, and made available forothers to pick up free of charge. This approach not only addresses the practical need for clothing but also reduces waste and promotes sustainable consumption patterns.
For those interested in contributing to the initiative through clothing donations, HumaneTouch encourages reaching out to the organization through their contact channels. Every small effort can contribute to a larger wave of compassion and transformation within the community.
