Port Blair, Aug 03: The Andaman Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder has requested the Administration for the enhancement of the pay scale packages of the MGNREGA Employees.
In a letter addressed to the Secretary (RD), A & N Administration, Mr. Halder has highlighted the consequences of the MGNREA Employees for which they are suffered amidst.
He said the lack of a pay scale increment for over a decade has resulted in financial hardships for the MGNREGA employees since 2008. Above their unwavering dedication and commitment, the payments for the employees are least since held.
He has pointed out that the salary scale for MGNREGA employees is determined by the respective State/UT governments and it is crucial to review and revise the pay scale packages of MGNREGA employees to align them with the current economic conditions and inflation rates.
He added that MGNREGA employees in Andaman and Nicobar Islands are not only contributing to the traditional rural projects but have also extended their services to a multitude of departments, ranging from PMAY Survey, Panchayat Survey, SBM survey, IHHL Survey etc. But least bothered, their expertise and experiences have no value according to their working conditions.
Addressing these problems requires a concerted effort from the authorities to ensure that all MGNREGA workers receive fair and timely payments, empowering them to improve their living conditions and contribute more effectively to rural development,”he said”.
