Oralkatcha, Baratang, July 7: Residents of Oralkatcha, Baratang and commuters traveling along the National Highway (NH) are facing hazardous conditions due to a damaged portion of the road in Oralkatcha area. The NH stretch in this area is riddled with pockmarked potholes, posing a threat to the safety of people traversing the route.
The deteriorating condition of the road can be attributed to the persistent issue of waterlogging, which requires urgent attention. Not only does it shorten the lifespan of the roads, but it also necessitates frequent repairs. Residents of the area are now demanding to prioritize the improvement of the sewerage system to address this underlying problem.
Furthermore, the road levels have not been adequately assessed, leading to water accumulation during rainfall and subsequent road damage. The lack of proper maintenance has resulted in students from the Government School of Oralkatcha Baratang being compelled to walk on a dilapidated road.
“We face numerous difficulties while traveling to school. The path is filled with muddy potholes, and our uniforms and shoes become dirty and muddy,” expressed a student from the school.
Mr. Alagerswamy, a Zilla Parishad Member of Baratang, highlighted the issue of the NH road, which was constructed just last year but has already suffered significant damage. Despite multiple notifications to the NH authority and raising the matter with local administration, requests for repair and maintenance of the roads have gone unanswered.
The residents of Baratang Oralkatcha and commuters along the National Highway call upon the concerned authorities to take immediate action. Repairing and maintaining the road infrastructure in this area is essential for the safety and convenience of all road users.
