Port Blair, June 30: Indian Oil Corporation Ltd along with Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas organised an LPG Suraksha Goshthi’ program at Lemon tree Hotel Port Blair, with 150 LPG customers at Port Blair on 30th June 2023. This program was be a step towards Women and Children Empowerment which is one of the core themes of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to celebrate India’s 75 years of independence.
Chief Guest of event Mrs. Monika Bhardwaj, DIG Police, A&N and Guest of honour Dr. Nitin Shakya, Director Social Welfare, A&N emphasised on health benefits of LPG for women and children as compared to usage of firewood.
Mr. Arvind Nath Jha, Deputy Secretary from Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gases and Mr. Radha Krishna, Under Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas have also graced the occasion. They emphasised on safe usage of LPG in order to avert any accident or injuries.
Indian Oil senior officials from West Bengal Mr. NK Konar, CGM (LPG), WBSO and Mr. SK Dhar, DLSH, Kolkata IDO were also present at the event.
The event was an initiative to create awareness amongst women about benefits, safe usage practices and conservation of domestic LPG. Customers were educated about safety through a video and live demo. A quiz was organised to involve the participants. Enthusiastic response was received from all participants.
The event also featured success stories of women beneficiaries of “Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana” under which large number of underprivileged households got subsidised LPG connection. Some beneficiaries were felicitated and they shared their experience on using LPG as cooking fuel Indian Oil felicitated some of the oldest Indane customers at Andaman & Nicobar, They shared the scenario pre and post LPG in A&N.
