Port Blair, June 05: The 50thWorld Environment Day was observed today at Love Children Home, Indra Nagar, Manglutan. Love children home is one of the registered Child Care Institutions of South Andaman district having the capacity to house 100 children in need of care and protection at a time.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman Mrs. Veditha Reddy and Additional District Magistrate Mr. Dilkhush Meena joined in the celebrations with the children and Staff of Love Children Home. The program started with plantation drive wherein the distinguished guests planted trees with the children of the Home signifying the importance of trees in life. Thereafter the Deputy Commissioner Mrs. Veditha Reddy and the Additional District Magistrate had a glimpse of the handicrafts prepared by the children among which some of the display was crafted out of waste.
The dignitaries also inspected the Child Care Institution and enjoyed the cultural program presented by the children. In her address, Madam Veditha Reddy appreciated the children and encouraged them to do well in their academics and be the aspirants to various careers in their future. The Deputy Commissioner also appreciated the good work of the CCI Management. The Additional District Magistrate also motivated the children and informed the management and children that they can approach Administration for any support. The entire program was coordinated by the District Child Protection Unit, South Andaman.
District Administration ensures to conduct such a program to bring positive change in children so that they can make their environment a much healthier, greener and happier place to live.
