Port Blair, Apr 09: A one-day table tennis tournament was organized at YMCA Building, Port Blair on Saturday by the “Andaman Achievers Table Tennis Academy”. The tournament began in the morning and concluded in the evening.
The main objective of the tournament was to promote table tennis in the Union Territory and encourage the local players to focus more on excellence in sports.
The closing ceremony was graced by ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker as a Chief Guest along with other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bhasker shared his views on sports and urged youths to never indulge in taking drugs or other bad elements.
“It was my pleasure to attend the tournament as Chief Guest. All players played with great zeal and sportsmanship. The tournament was organized in very systematic manner”, said Mr. Bhasker
In the men’s open category, Mr. Suresh Baroi won the title while Mr. Alok Bora emerged as runner-up and in the women’s category; Ms. Tripti Mondal won the title while Ms. Jessi emerged as runner-up.
Later, the winner and runner-up players were felicitated with medals and trophies. The tournament was culminated with a vote of thanks proposed by National level Table Tennis Player Mr. P. Surya Kumar
