Port Blair, Jan 08: The road connecting Government press with South Point area via South Point Circuit house has been declared one day long back considering the fact that the road is not only narrow but also unsafe if two heavy vehicles get stuck at the middle of the slope.
Sadly the same one way road is opened for both way traffic on weekends because the main road which connects South Point via Ayaanar Temple is kept closed for all vehicular movement. This leads to major inconvenience to the public and also raises serious safety concerns.
There is no doubt that blocking the road from Government Press to South Point via Ayaanar Temple is crucial to ensure safety of visitors of flag point but there is a need to immediately widen the narrow road, which connects Government press with South Point area via South Point Circuit house. Thinking about widening the said road after any major accident will be of no use.
