Bakultala, Nov 27: Large number of angry villagers of Bakultala, Urmilapur under Kaushalya Nagar Gram Panchayat in Rangat Tehsil blocked roads and organised protest against NHIDCL today for carrying out NH4 upgradation work in unprofessional manner in the region.
As per report, the works in the region are going at snail pace. The agitation and road blockade started at 07.00 AM at Bakultala Junction. As a result, all the vehicles including ATR Express buses remained standing till 10.00 AM.
According to Mr. Narayan Mondal, Pradhan, GP Bakultala, about 10 days ago villagers complained about the bad road condition to the Officials of NHIDCL and said that, if the repair works of the stretch of NH4 from Rangat to Kaushalya Nagar are not resumed within 10 days, they would resort to road blockage.
Since the repair work did not start within the time given, they staged agitation and road blockade, they said. NHIDCLreportedly completed merely 04 KM while the stretch from Nandgrah to Sabari remained untouched, the residents further alleged.
Meanwhile, Mr. Aditya Kumar Asthana (DANICS) Assistant Commissioner, Rangat accompanied by Tehsildar and the Officials of NHIDCL arrived at the spot.
After a long negotiation, at around 10AM, the Assistant Commissioner reportedly assured the irked residents that the repairing works of the left out stretch of NH4 would be completed in the next 20 days and after a written assurance, the agitation was withdrawn by protesters, the report said.
