I extend my heartiest greetings to all journalists from the media fraternity of Andaman and Nicobar Islands on National Press Day. I am glad to see our media fraternity is working tirelessly towards the development of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
National Press Day is observed every year on November 16. It is symbolic of a free and responsible press in India. This was the day on which the Press Council of India started functioning.
I acknowledge the hardship and risks involved in conduct of the profession world over, especially in a remote state like Andaman and Nicobar Islands and appreciate the role played by the media in these Islands.
I express gratitude to the media fraternity for going about their duty professionally without fear or favour and I applaud media’s remarkable role during Covid-19.
