Port Blair, Nov 15: Highlighting a long pending issue of the enhancement of Honorarium of the Guest faculties working in various colleges of A & N Administration, Mr. Ajoy Bairagi, State President BJP, A&N Island wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary A & N Administration, Secretariat Port Blair today.
Referring to the University Grant Commission’s (UGC) guidelines vide letter no. F-25/1/2018 (PS/MISC) dated 28th January 2019 with detailed and clear cut instructions for enhancement of honorarium to Rs. 1500/- per lecture subject to a maximum of Rs. 50,000/- per month, Mr. Bairagi urged the Chief Secretary to enhance honorarium in compliance with Order.
The disgruntled BJP State President also mentioned in his letter that, despite several representations had been submitted by the college authorities and also by the Guest faculties working in different colleges, but till date nothing has been done in this regard and they are continuing with the age old honorarium fixed by the administration.
Mr. Bairagi felt that it is high time that the Administration should extend the benefit of the enhanced honorarium as directed by UGC which will not only boost the morale of the underpaid guest faculties, but also will undeniably help in improving the quality of education.
