Port Blair, Oct 17: Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Health Secretary & Director of Health, A& N Islands was on an official visit in Middle Andaman today.
Soon after reaching Middle Andaman, the top Official of the Health Dept. had a direct interaction with the PRIs at Samiti Hall, Rangat and various issues were kept before the Secretary.
The PRIs of this region raised the issues of shortage of Medical staffs including Male Doctors, poor infrastructure in the CHC, Rangat while PHCs in Bakultala, Nimbutala, Betapur, Dasaratpur, and new PHC at Bakultala are plagued with the shortage of ANMs and dearth of required medicines.
As part of his tour, the Secretary Health visited CHC, Rangat on the basis of these inputs and inquired in detail about the shortcomings of the Hospital.
On being apprised of the glitches and deficiencies affecting the CHC, Rangat the Health Authority assured to bring an end to all those health related issues as early as possible.
After completion of the inspection of CHC, Rangat they proceeded towards PHC, Billiground to see the condition of PHC Billiground.
In transit, they met with Shri Venkateshwar Rao, Pradhan,Shivapuram and inspected the Betapur Sub Health Centre as well. On the higher Official’s visit, Mr. Veknkateshwar narrated in detail the situation of the centre and urged the needful to eradicate the shortcomings of the sub centre.
At the end of today’s tour, they arrived at PHC, Billiground at 3.30PM. On the arrival of the Health Secretary, ANI & Director of Health Service ANI, local leaders welcomed him.
The Health Secretary and Health Director inspected all the units of the PHC, Billiground very minutely and the Chief Medical officer Dr.Ajit Kumar put forth the requirements of the PHC in detail.
After completion the inspection Secretary Health & Director collectively addressed the public and PRIs.
On this occasion, Dr.P.K.Mandal, SGS, BJKM, ANI very effectively highlighted the different issues of PHC Billiground. He said that the Hospital immediately requires the appointment of a new Lab assistant and appointment of X-ray technician. The PHC Billiground is in dire need of Digital X-ray machine, a new 50KV Gen set, weekly 6 days visits/services of Ayush Doctor and at least weekly 2 days Homeo Doctors services at the Health Centre. Providing instruments and staff for Thyroid examination is also a requirement of the PHC. He further informed that the building where inpatients are kept is in bad condition which requires it to be urgently restored in the interest of the public.
Health Secretary after listening to all the points raised by Dr.P.K.Mandal, assured necessary action.
The Health Secretary and Director of Health assured the public and PRI that they will immediately take necessary steps to resolve all the issues so that people of the region could get good health services.
Health secretary further added that he is very much happy to get the opportunity to meet such well health aware people of this district. He said the public are free to contact him in connection with health related issues at any point of time.
Dr.Mandal, Tushar Bepari expressed their gratitude to the Health Secretary and director of Health Service for patiently hearing the grievances of the public and giving assurance of solving all difficulties related to health.
