Port Blair, Sept 02: The residents of the Teylarabad area have been facing immense difficulties for several years due to miserable road conditions in the area. The internal roads from Garacharma main road to the residential area of Teylarabadhave become unmotorable for all kinds of vehicles.
The local residents have conducted several protests and strikes in the past against the Administration but only received hollow assurances from the officials. After every protest, the potholes are covered temporarily with earth or low-quality repair works are done every time to only settle the protest of the people.
Due to the horrific road conditions, residents face difficulties during any emergency situation as it is challenging for the ambulance to drive on the poor roads of the area. Further, it was reported that the school buses of some private schools have stopped pick-up service for the students in the area as well. The students and other people have to walk long distances through the same wrecked road to acquire any kind of transportation. Even autorickshaw drivers refuse to enter the village and hence people have to walk a long distance.
According to the sources, it is learned that some local residents of Teylarabad are planning to hold a massive protest once again against the administration to demand a permanent solution to this problem.
