Port Blair, Aug 30: Based on an information, on 29th August 2022 a jungle search was conducted in the jungle of Balu Nallah near Talbagan by a team of PS Kalighat. The team apprehended Mrinmoy Sarkar Debra S/o Mr. Niranjan Sarkar (40) yrs R/o Talbagan while making illicit liquor in the dense forest of Balu Nallah and recovered 60 liters of illicit liquor and 700 liters of illicit lahan along with 50 kg sugar and other raw materials. He has been booked for the violation of Excise Regulation and a case has been registered at PS Kalighat.
The accused is an exclusive bootlegger who was notorious in the Talbagan-Paschim Sagar area. He had been on surveillance for many days since he is known to be the big manufacturer of illicit liquor in the area.
