Port Blair, Aug 28: To improve the nutritional security of the islands and the well-being of the islanders, the A&N Administration has embarked upon a programme “Each One Plant One” drive of fruit-bearing tree seedlings by the Govt. servants. As a part of the initiative, Mrs. U. Kavitha Chairperson, PBMC, Mr. AzizurRehman, Sr.Vice Chairperson and Councillors distributed fruit-bearing seedlings, at PBMC HQ premises among the officials of the Municipal Council for planting at their residence. Further, invited all staff to plant a minimum of two fruit-bearing tree seedlings to make the campaign a grand success.
Moreover, apart from the above, emphasis is also made to mobilize the campaign among the masses to plant various fruit-bearing trees in large numbers in each ward in coordination with the ward Councillors so that nutritious fruits are available to everyone. The campaign would enhance fruit availability for citizens and secure their nutritional requirements further it will enhance the greenery and will also help in creating a green and clean environment.
