Port Blair, Aug 23: G B Pant Hospital, which is the only referral hospital of Andaman and Nicobar Islands has been witnessing mismanagement in controlling crowd and management of vehicles. Dogs and cats can be seen roaming freely inside the hospital complex these days.
According to sources due to the absence of Security Guards, it has become difficult for the Hospital management to control the crowd in various places.
As per details, 58 private security guards earlier posted at GB Pant Hospital used to perform several tasks including the security of wards, security of patients, Security of the Maternity ward, Security of the Children’s ward, security of parked vehicles, parking management, and security in the mental ward, etc. Unfortunately, due to the absence of security guards at GB Pant since 1st July 2022, all these works have suffered considerably.
When Andaman Sheekha Daily contacted the Secretary of Health Services, it was informed that the contract period for Security Guards has expired on 1st July 2022.
The Secretary of Health Services assured that within one week the security guards will be back on duty. “Private Security Guards play a very important role in the G B Pant Hospital complex,” he added.
