Port Blair, Jul 22: A three days training programme on “First Aid Fire Fighting & Disaster Preparedness” commenced on 20th July 2022 at Fire Service Training Center, Fire Service (HQ), to sensitize Govt Servants, Teachers and Hoteliers was concluded at Fire Service (HQ) on 22nd July 2022.
The participants were made aware of various activities of Andaman & Nicobar Fire Service i.e Fire Control Room, operational techniques of Water Tender, Rescue Tender & Disaster Management equipment i.e Search & Rescue equipment, Chain Saw, Concrete Cutter, Air Lifting Bag, Combi Tools, etc. A live demonstration on operating various fire extinguishers like Co2(4.5 kg), Mechanical Foam (09 lits,), Dry Chemical Powder (06 kg) & Water Co2 (09 ltrs) by involving the participants was also conducted at the end by setting a fire like the real-time incident at Fire Service (HQ).
Mr. S.K.Jain, IPS Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) and Mrs. Monika Bhardwaj, IPS Sr. Superintendent of Police (Fire) were present for the valediction and appreciated the enthusiasm of the participants and appealed to them to share knowledge through “Each One Teach One” which they gained from this training session. Course certificates were also given to each participant.
Altogether 56 people participated in the training session. The participants appreciated and expressed that the training programme has built the capacity of individuals for responding to any emergency as first-line responders.
