
Port Blair, Jul 13: Indian Pharmacist Association (IPA) has requested Chief Secretary, A&N Administration for early completion of the recruitment procedure for Pharmacist in A&N Islands along with the fulfilment of several other demands by the Association.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mr. Abhay Kumar, National President, IPA has mentioned that in A&N Islands, there has been no recruitment for the post of Pharmacist since 2010 under the Health Department. In the year 2018, a vacancy for 28 posts of Pharmacist under DHS was called for, but even after the lapse of three years, the recruitment procedure remains incomplete. Many posts like Chief Pharmacist, Drugs Inspector and B.Pharm tutor are also not filled and are being looked after.
He stated that the ANIIMS was established in the Islands in 2015 and all essential posts were recruited but not a single Pharmacist was recruited under ANIIMS until now. The government of India’s ambitious project of Jan Aushadhi Kendra has been implemented but not a single Pharmacist was recruited and is managed by the depleted strength of DHS pharmacists.
Therefore, Mr. Abhay Kumar, National President, IPA has requested the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration to fulfill several demands like early completion of the recruitment procedure of Pharmacist under DHS vide and filling up of all the other vacant posts, where Pharmacist are eligible; Filling up of all the posts of Pharmacist under ANIIMS; Fresh Recruitment of Pharmacist for Jan Aushadhi Kendra, which is already operational at 10 centers across A&N Islands, and can extends in the other parts of the islands; Creation of new posts of Pharmacist, as many new PHC, have come up and many health centre have been upgraded but not a single post of Pharmacist have been created since 2001; Creation of Drugs Control Department under the A&N Administration; Posting of Pharmacist in every Sub-Health Centre as previously been practised under DHS and creation of promotional avenues for the Pharmacist with initial grade pay of 4600.
