Port Blair, July 06: The residents of Katchal Island are facing a terrible time due to the network fluctuations of the BSNL mobile network for the last three days.
Katchal residents, who are at Port Blair, alleged that due to the frequent fluctuations of the network they are unable to make calls even in urgency related to Health Issues or any other emergencies.
Due to the zero connectivity, the residents of Katchal Island and the government servants situated there are not able to contact their family members, relatives and friends outside the Island or in Mainland India.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted a senior officer of BSNL, he informed that the BSNL is aware about the issue and the problems people are facing in the Katchal Islands.
The officer informed that due to heavy rain the Converter of the tower was completely damaged and stopped working. The converter and other equipment would be sent to Katchal Island very soon, he assured.
The BSNL officer added that the converter has been arranged and BSNL is waiting for the transportation of the converter. He said that it is expected that the converter will be sent via Saturday ship as the equipment can’t be carried in Helicopter because of its weight.
He assured that once the converter is fixed the problem will be resolved in no time.
