Port Blair, Jun 08: Mr. G.T. Lorenes, Joint Secretary, KSWA has requested the Director of Civil Supplies, A&N Administration to exempt the digitalized bio-metric thumb impression for availing monthly ration from FPS at Katchal Island.
In a letter addressed to the Director of Civil Supplies, A&N Administration, Mr. Lorenes stated that till now in Katchal Island, ration items were availed through manual the system due to the non-availability of proper internet connection, but now it is directed by EPS to avail the ration through the digitalized bio-metric system but the ration items are not issued to the people of Katchal Island due to poor internet connectivity.
He mentioned that in Katchal Island 3G internet services have been launched recently but still, the range of the speed connectivity isnot sufficient to implement the digitalized thumb impression services at Katchal Island.
Therefore, Mr. G.T. Lorenes, Joint Secretary, KSWA has requested the Director of Civil Supplies, A&N Administration to continue the manualservices for availing ration items from FPS at Katchal Island until thelaunch of the FTTH Internet connection. And to give necessary direction to the concerned authorities at Katchal Island regarding the matter at the earliest.
