Diglipur, June 08: Haathi Level/Jal Tikry and BadurTikrey bound passengers travelling by STS buses have to bear the brunt and hardships owing to non-existence of a Passenger Waiting Hall in Diglipur Bazaar. Women passengers waiting for the bus on the footpath and in front of the shops holding their infants/babies with one hand and bags held in the other hand in scorching sun and in rain is really an unbearable sight, said a number of passengers experiencing the ordeal.
Moved by the trying adversity of these passengers, Mr. MadhaiMurshid, Panchayat Samiti Member, Subhashgram Constituency, wrote a letter to the Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur apprising him of the suffering of these passengers. According to Mr. Murshid, a shed with sitting arrangement adjacent to the existing STS building, Diglipur which used to give shelter to these passengers was allegedly removed. However, the dismantling of the shed from the site has rendered today’s situation pathetic for the passengers, Mr. Murshid alleged.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the PSM said that, if the STS takes initiative to re-build the shed as that of earlier one at the very site in question, these passengers will undeniably get a big relief; and he has urged the ACDP to impress upon the concerned Officials and redress the cited problem thereby alleviating the sufferings of the passengers.
