Port Blair, Apr 28 : The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma has requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands to maintain a weekly roster of cargo and dangerous cargo ships for Great Nicobar Islands so that fuel, LPG Cylinders and essential commodities reach to the Islands on regular basis.
In a letter addressed to the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, the Member of Parliament said that due to lack of cargo as well as dangerous cargo ships, the Island is witnessing a crisis of LPG Cylinders, Petrol, Diesel as well as other essential commodities.
He added that in many areas people do not even have sufficient petrol/diesel for medical emergencies.
The Member of Parliament added that after a gap of several days today some Islanders have been issued a very limited amount of fuel at Campbell Bay, it is learnt.
Considering the hardship of people of Great Nicobar Island and to resolve this issue, the Member of Parliament requested the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to issue necessary directions to the Shipping Department to maintain a weekly roster of cargo and dangerous cargo ships for Great Nicobar Islands so that fuel, LPG Cylinders and essential commodities reach to the Island on regular basis.
