Port Blair, Apr 11: A general body meeting was held on 10th April 2022 at Hotel TSG Grand, Dollygunj with multi-disciplinary private practicing doctors and Dr. RohindraLal, ophthalmologist was unanimously nominated as President, Dr. Dinesh, Dental Surgeon as General Secretary, Dr. A. P Bharadwaj Paediatrician as treasurer, Dr. Ritika Gupta, Pathologist as vice-President, Dr. Mitesh Behari, Neuro Psychiatrist as Joint Secretary and executive committee members Dr. Arun Unnithan, gynecologist, Dr. Anand Unde, gynecologist, Dr. Vidyanand, Laparoscopic Surgeon, Dr. Seema Das, Ophthalmologist.
A&N Islands Private Practicing Doctors Association has done free Multi-Speciality camps at PHC Ferrargunj, PHC Manglutan, Pillar Hospital, Astha Gynae and Fertility Centre in the past for the rural populace and free check-ups on World Diabetes Day at all private Hospitals and Clinics.
During COVID pandemic private doctors of most clinics and hospitals did a commendable job through tele-consultation during challenging times.
Dr. Lal, President said that the association will support all members during a professional crisis. Professional protection to protect members and help them in case of harassment that may arise during the process of their professional practice and asked them to do ethical practice with empathy and dedication.
He asked the specialists to hold free multi-specialty camps in rural areas and inter islands in coordination with panchayat, directorate of health services and district administration so that poor patients who cannot afford can get the immense benefit. He also asked the members to undertake measures for the improvement of public health in the A&N Islands to maintain the dignity and honour of the profession.
