Diglipur, March 29: A “Mega Cycle Rally” from Diglipur to Port Blair via Mayabunder, Rangat and Baratang started today at 06.00 AM from Diglipur.
The rally which started from Dolphin Chowk/Assistant Commissioner’s Office was flagged off by Mr. Ankit Yadav (IAS), Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur in presence of the DEO, Diglipur and Mr. PR Singa Ram, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Subhashgram. Apart from 28 men and women cyclists in whom two riders were from the mainland rest others from different govt. depts. of A & N Islands, a number of school students also (girls & boys) participated in the race to give the cyclists a welcome boost. The school students escorted by their sports teachers, went along with these cyclists up to Kalara Junction and then they came back.
Mr. V. Selvam, Coach (Swimming)/Nodal Officer (SYA) is coordinating the event, a source said.
