Port Blair, Mar 25: Mr. Rangalal Halder, ANTCC President, Mr. G. Bhasker, ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman and Mr. V.K Abdul Aziz, DCC President South Andaman on Friday waived off bus ambulance service for patients in Port Blair. Congress has started a new ambulance service to help patients reach hospitals without bearing any cost.
The bus ambulance will be stationed at Gandhi Bhawan, Port Blair. The ambulance was donated by “All India Congress Committee”, New Delhi to help patients of A&N Islands.
According to Mr. Halder, three mobile numbers 9434270201, 9933294241 and 9434269934 have been provided for the ambulance services.
Mr. Halder has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, AICC President, Mr. KC Venugopal, AICC General Secretary (Org) and Mr. A. Chellakumar, AICC Incharge, A&N Islands.
“Currently, people are being fleeced in the name of ambulances. Those who are desperate are being made to pay huge amounts for short distances. Congress has, therefore, introduced this bus ambulance which would be ideal for patients,” he said.
The service will be provided for free to whoever contacts the party for the ambulance. “We will increase the number of ambulances and expand to other Islands as per need,” said Mr. Halder.
