Port Blair, Mar 24: The Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee President Mr. Rangalal Halder on Thursday wrote a letter to the Director General of Police, A&N Islands and requested him to provide police recovery vans starting from Middle Straight to Jirkatang.
In the letter, Mr. Halder highlighted that many vehicles get damaged while crossing the road between Middle Straight and Jirkatang due to the pathetic condition of roads or some other reasons. These damaged vehicles need to be brought at the nearest police stations or at respective garages for repair.
He said that these vehicles are left behind at roads for several days due to non-availability of police recovery vans for transportation. Also, incidents of vehicles attacked or robbed by tribals have taken place in the past.
Hence, he requested the DGP to look into the matter on priority basis and provide sufficient number of police recovery vans for transporting the damaged vehicles.
