Port Blair, Feb 27: Congress leaders led by ANTCC Campaign Committee Chairman Mr. TSG Bhasker held canvassing in Uttara Panchayat, Kadamtala Panchayat, Kaushalya Nagar Panchayat, BakultalaPanchayat, Rangat Panchayat, Rampur Panchayat, DasrathPur Panchayat, Nimbutala Panchayat, Sivapuram Panchayat, and Billiground Panchayat to pursue the electorate to vote for Congress party in the ensuing Panchayat elections.
City Congress Former General Secretary Mr. Saji Varghese, DCC Secretary Mr. Ameer Bux, Youth Congress Former General Secretary Mr. Sebastian Tirkey and Former Block President Mr. Ganesh Acharya were part of the canvassing team.
During the door-to-door campaign, major issues like corruption practice in BJP led panchayats, lack of employment opportunities, failure for industrial growth, lack of scheme for the development of the minority community people and anarchy in the education system were highlighted.
The Congress leaders also met people and listened to their suggestions and grievances.
Mr. Bhasker held meeting with party workers where he urged them to gear up for the panchayat elections and intensify party activities by organizing door-to-door visits.
